A typical drummset has a 8 bit instruction set (base, snare, tom,  
floortom, hi-hat, ride, 2 crashes). A drummer can use not more than 4  
bit of this 8 at the same time (2 arms, 2 legs = 4 bit bus). So  
reading drum notes ist quite easy, compared to a guitar player.

A guitar player has a 2D matrix of 6 (strings) x 20 or whatever  
(frets) = 120 bit, combined with 6 bits of the right hand, combined  
with 1 million sounds of the digital sound effect machine. As a  
result, the guitar player almost never plays the guitar, but searches  
for the right sound.

While the drummer has random access to all bits, the guitar player  
works more like a hard disc: Fist position the hand by sliding over  
the fretboard, than positioning fings on both hands, than play. So I  
guess the guitarist has much work with access optimization. Would be  
easier with a cache...
