I have been using grid controls quite a lot since I started with RealBasic, and delphi and vb before that.
The standard listbox has been getting quite a lot faster in later releases. There is a "data aware" listbox addon, all done in realbasic, to see a live version of it, check out Marco's fabulous SQLite Manager. I on the other hand decided after testing it out to go with a 3rd party, so I bought einhugur plugins. I was more than quite hesitant to buy plugins. But after a while, I really like doing business with 3rd parties. I always get great support, well beyond call of duty. What I think is happening, people are used to top version of delphi and VB, where you get plenty of 3rd party tools included with the version, db grids, chart generators, report systems and more included with the package, it might seem that you are getting everything from Borland, until you check it. Only a few items actually come from the maker of the dev ide. What Real Software should/could do is to have included in the pro version some 3rd party plugins, which would get updated through RS with every new version. It would create a much richer 3rd party market, make marketing for those 3rd parties much simpler, and would have fewer people complaining about not getting something out of the box. That way also, RS could put all their efforts into the IDE and compiler and not thinking about Listboxes and such. I think this would make a lot more people much happier. Trausti p.s. I have no affiliate with Marco (SQLabs) or Einhugur, only a client. On May 13, 2007, at 7:44 PM, Emile Schwarz wrote: > Is a Grid Control sexy enough for Real Software ? > > is the choosen subject.
