For what it's worth....
This thread has come up at an interesting time for me as I have been experiencing long delays sending an AppleEvent from within my app which 'sometimes' causes iTunes and my app to hang for long periods and consume large chunks of the cpu. There is nothing wrong with the AE construction as it does run most of the time without issue. I thought I'd try running a raw Applescript instead via MBS and wow - the script is soooo much faster and has not hung once. I don't know enough about the behind the scenes workings of the script method vs AE but I feel like it has something to do with queueing - whereby the AE method seems to easily get clogged up.
