To all, I am a local property investor in London UK (and parts of the US). I made my first UK purchase in 1994 when I took a position at Swiss Bank Corp, London. I have a number of contacts in all areas of London so can provide local intelligence.
Speculating on the Olympics is a game some will play but you have to understand that a number of London investors have already been buying in the specific areas. One other thing that will not seem so obvious. There is to be a major extension to the Underground plus the Crossrail (a rail link that actually goes from the west to the east underground). London has 14 train stations and most are not linked so the Crossrail will go a long way to solving part of that issue. There is also the move of Eurostar form Waterloo Station to the north of the city. This work finishes in 2007. The key is a major new station in the east side of London that will be a short trip to the city center and 2 hours from Paris. Some UK residents commute from France and the SE of the UK and this high speed link will favor such shifts. Hence the infrastructure changes will cause profits to be made. You have to know the markets to get a sense of what is close to the stations and what will not be in such hot locations. It might be a good time for a visit to London other then the risks associated with today's bombings. BTW - Understand that the UK in general and London in particular have been dealing with bombings for a long time. A tragic event will happen and then the residents will get on with their lives. It is the UK view that to get on with things is the best way to fight the impact of terror. Something that goes back at leas to WWII and the V2 bombings.
