From: Lamar Owen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Announcing a couple of tools I have, in past times, been inundated with requests for the LOGFORMAT lines necessary to make the free software logfile analyzer, Analog, work with RealServer's log files. I have put up a web page on my site http://www.ramifordistat.net/realserver -- as well as a little awk script that is a real jewel. The awk script, pnserver-stats.awk, does what is difficult to do ordinarily -- it figures out how long each host has listened, and figures out the start time of each listening. It is still in development -- for instance, it is assuming 16K streams right now -- but it does do that job nicely. It takes a RealServer log file as input, and produces an output file with the IP address, the start time of the session, the end time of the session, the length of the session in H:M:S form, and then the length in seconds. I am working on making it more universal -- different stream rates, etc -- but, the only way to reliably determine how long a listener listened to a live stream (under RealAudio Server 3.0, at least) is to start with the content length field, and calculate the time from that. I am working on some other scripts to further analyze -- inluding peak time calculations, calculations of concurrent streams at given times, etc. I will keep the list updated as things change.
