Hi Todd,
We purchased the Media Cleaner Pro about 2 months ago and it has
proved itself invaluable. It is great for batch processing lots of clips
which you can individually set to compress with different formats and
parameters. You can really beef up Real Clips with the audio settings such
as the noise filter and reverb. I especially like being able to process
video and audio segments without recompressing them(avi's & mov's). For
instance you could redo just the audio track and downsample it from 16 to
8bit and so forth and "copy" the video. This "copy" feature doesn't recrunch
the video. Another time we had a bunch of clips with low source audio. I
recruched the audio adjusting the volume to bring it up into a decent range
without having to mess with the video tracks. Besides handling the crunching
into Real having the other options such as MP3, Quicktime, DV and more has
been a big help. I can convert the same source file into a multitude of
different formats and save the advanced settings I create to use on other
clips. The same flexibility with the audio is the same on the video side.
It has a very useful black and white restore features, deinterlacing
options, noise reduction and watermarking tools. We use Real Producer 5.0
and the basic G2 producer on occasion to pump out a clip or two but the
tools included with MCP were worth it in terms of the quality improvement it
made on video and audio quality/control. And if you don't want to mess with
the advanced settings there are plenty of default settings to choose from
that do a pretty good job. We have been real happy with MCP and haven't
even figured half the stuff I could be doing with it yet.
