Craig,
In the IP multicasting, it is the client to initiate the request. But
in the application layer you can have both pull and push. An example
of push mode is the server sending stock prices to clients, and a
typical application of pull mode is Video-On-Demand.

With Real Systems, if the server has an open API, the client (not
necessarily Real Player) can ask the server to change multicast or
broadcast parameters. I guess I can always do this manully and reload
the server but a lightweight reconfiguration may be desireable. This is
useful if you are thinking of building an appication using Real Systems.
