Subject: SMIL presentation stalling on local playback

Hi,

Can anyone help me determine why my SMIL presentations stall when playing =
from a CD-ROM, but only on some computers? =20

The SMIL presentations are composed of a Real Audio file, Real Pix, and a =
Real Text scrolling transcript. On some computers, sometimes the audio =
will stall, but more often the scrolling Real Text will suddenly go blank =
and then pick up after a few lines. I have tried adjusting the bitrate =
setting at the top of the Real Pix file and confess that I don't understand=
the effect it is having. The bitrate shown in lower left corner of my =
Real Player window changes when I change the bitrate in the Real Pix file, =
but I don't understand the correlation.

Also, does it matter at what rate I compress the audio if I am playing it =
off a CD-ROM? I have been compressing it for a high bandwidth, figuring it =
doesn't matter since it's not going over the Net.

Thanks.
