I think it's shameful that RealNetworks and Apple will not have an official
presence at the Streaming Media conferences. They are the only streaming
media conferences I've seen that are not designed to be vendor-controlled
sales pitches. In fact, very, very few of the conference sessions are sales
pitches of any kind -- there's actual content instead!
It's a good vendor-neutral show, and the industry heavyweights won't go, for
reasons we can all wonder about. Microsoft does attend, and
uncharacteristically, keeps a relatively low profile.
That said, Real partners and customers and examples are everywhere, even
without Real being there officially.
