I am having difficulties, though, with windows _smaller_ than the encoded
video. It wants to crop them even with fit="meet". Is this a limitation?
Or am I doing something wrong?

My code is as follows:

<smil>
   <head>
     <layout>
      <root-layout background-color="#000000" height="225" width="250"/>
      <region id="logo" left="5" top="65" height="77" width="240"
z-index="3"/>
      <region id="Video" left="5" top="5" height="180" width="240"
z-index="4"/>
      <region id="TextBot" left="5" top="185" height="40" width="240"
z-index="5"/>
     </layout>
   </head>
   <body>
   <par>
     <seq>
      <par>
        <video id="Video-id" src="gql3.rm" region="Video" fit="meet"/>
        <img id="logo-id" src="logo.rp" region="logo"/>
      </par>
     </seq>
   </par>
   </body>
</smil>
