The RealForum is an email discussion group focused on using RealNetworks products. The RealForum is a place to post messages about the best methods for creating content using RealNetworks technologies and the planning and implementation of streaming-media web sites. ******************************************************** From: "John Bowskill" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Playing local SMIL files on a Mac I have just read in the knowledge base on the Real web site (http://service2.real.com/solutions/RAP01227.HTM) that there is a known problem playing files locally on a Mac using the Real G2 player - especially if any of the following are true: - the bit rate is > 128kbps - the clip file lengths are are >5 minutes - the player is playing SMIL files I have almost completed a CD containing video, audio and slides from a conference and all of the above will be true when played on a Mac. I chose Real over Windows Media because it is multi-platform. I did some limited testing on the Mac before I started but used files < 5 minutes in duration. Has anyone else encountered problems with local playback on the Mac? (Has anyone done it without problems?) Will I need to re-encode all my content to produce clips <5 minutes? OR is there a tool to split existing rm files into smaller files? Thanks for any help, John Bowskill StreamTime mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ******************************************************* If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, you can send mail to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with the following command in the body of your email message: unsubscribe realforum or from another account, besides the address you subscribed with: unsubscribe realforum <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
