Subject: Real Encoder

Hi All,

A few questions:

Has anyone used the real encoder for one to one, one to many, or many to
many live video conferencing and what can they tell me about their
methods. How do you get around the delays? Does real networks have any
problems with using the real encoder as a part of an online conferencing
system provided that all participants buy it? We want to integrate it
with server side code to allow for simultaneous live streams, bonding of
audio streams (so we need to be able to separate the audio and video
from the client encoders whilst maintaining the syncronisation of the
stream) so that users can hear a group discussion, the ability to choose
a single stream for private video chat. I was thinking of somehow
splitting the audio and video from the client end, having a machine with
several sound cards to recieve the audio channels and physically merging
them through a mixing desk then re encoding them as a single stream to
present with the multiple video streams whilst having the single audio
streams avaliable when clicking on the video boxes on screen.

Any suggestions on the best way to implement this? I want something
similar to netmeeting but via a web page so it can be integrated with
other systems we are running such as databases, forums, and text chat.

Thanks in advance!

John Gray
