Subject: Hearing to the end of a live stream
G'Day Folk,
I was recently testing Real Server Basic 7.something (the
newest version) on a Red Hat box with a live stream encoded from my Win2k
machine using Real Producer 6.03.something. It was an Audio only surestream
using Music codecs (highest being 16kbps, lowest being 8kbps). I had 2 users
listening to the stream. As time went on the users seemed to get further and
furth behind (if thats possible). By the end of the stream they were at
LEAST 30 minutes behind what I was streaming from my end.
To finish off the stream I did a voice dub and hit "stop" on the encoder.
This was a bit of a mistake it would seem as those 30 minutes of buffered
audio just "vanished" as both players were diconnected from the stream and
the server sat idle. Is there any way to let users hear all of a live stream
without me broadcasing silence for 30 minutes for them to catch up??
LiFe.
