I am new to realxtend and general to virtualworld and I'd like to provide me some info about how to get start (tutorials, book, video e.t.c.). i want to design a virtual world. \
Our documentation home is at http://docs.realxtend.org/index.php/Main_Page .. there you can get information about e.g. how to build a world. There is also a community contributed section there with links to various blogs with posts about rex creation, http://docs.realxtend.org/index.php/Content_Community_Contributed_Tutorials
I think the design approach depends a lot on what kind of a virtual world you want to make. If you want to make a game, basically all the game design books etc. apply, 'cause in that case you would be just applying the e.g. ReX technology instead of writing your own game engine from scratch, but otherwise designing the game would be like usually. If you want a VW to visualize information, then the information visualization literature applies. If you are thinking of a service similar to what is often provided by websites, like a product gallery or a shop or something, probably some basics from web design can be applied (like how to think of the target groups). If you want to make a virtual home or something like that, I guess there are books and articles about that from a virtual architecture angle.
So I'd first think what I want to do, then find out how to do that, and then figure out how to get it done using e.g. ReX techs.
Later on can be that this is a good business opportunity for someone: write a book about designing and building VWs using e.g. ReX. Perhaps on ok time to start thinking of it now, if we get the content pipeline and the base platform etc. in ok shape by the end of this year, the book could be well on the way then too and adopt to how the tech ended up :o This is how some folks have made some business around Blender too, by writing books and making instructional videos etc.
