It is not the list that is slow, but rather delivery to some recipients. If you
look at the headers you will find that the list processing happened virtually
instantaneously, i.e. our server is quite fast and well-connected.

During delivery to the recipient occasional SMTP timeouts, DNS errors etc. can
increase delivery time to several minutes and, in rare cases, an hour or two
though.

Any delay beyond two hours is usually the result or a misconfiguration or long
outage at the recipient, and not related to the list at all.
