I also think that would give REBOL a powerful edge over other tools, =20
and would keep REBOL at the front line of computing trends, but I am =20
really intrigued by one other possible option... The browser has =20
become the modern equivalent of the desktop operating system of =20
previous generations. As things like Chrome OS become popular, =20
REBOL's usefulness will decrease, but more robust plugin options would =20
mean it could again become viable. I use the plugin in my business =20
for a few small apps, but getting it to run in Mozilla and Opera =20
requires a link on the page and some directions to copy the files to =20
the plugin directory. IE support is inconsisten across versions. =20
That needs to be ironed out, and support for Linux and Mac is =20
essential...

While I'm wishing, support for iPhone, Android, Win Mobile, and other =20
mobile platforms, and some basic multimedia support is necessary =20
(native cross platform access to sound input (recording, not just =20
playing), web cams, MP3 playing, and some popular video codecs, etc). =20
Make all the above things a priority, and nothing else could touch us :)

I'm sure a bigger community would satisfy all those requests and many =20
more, so my real wish is to grow the community. I truly think that =20
more and better documentation is a big part of the answer, and a few =20
good marketing gurus could work some magic.

The one other option that I'm really intrigued about is REBOL/Flash. =20
Let that huge corporate and user community maintain support for all =20
the multiple new platforms, and just create a native REBOL-to-Flash =20
compiler. Oldes has done a great thing with his REBOL/flash dialect =20
(not just as proof of concept, but as a real, usable tool - look at =20
Machinarium), but what I'm thinking of is direct REBOL/View dialect =20
and REBOL/Core code compilation ** directly to SWF **. Carl could get =20
a TON of mileage and built-in future support for REBOL by creating =20
such a compiler. Adobe will maintain support for future platforms, =20
and REBOL wins, without any additional work by RT or the REBOL =20
community. And just think about the huge Flash development community =20
that could embrace REBOL... (we need more developers!!!)
