I have had to write some short scripts to transfer files from one computer to another, using ftp (because it's the only way I know how and I therefore assume it is the only way, period). These scripts generally work, but when the files are big, they take a while, and the people who use them then wonder if they are indeed working. Does anyone know if there is a way to indicate that a file transfer is moving along? I am using write/binary ftp... and that is an "atomic" operation to me, so there is no way to get any information until it is all done. Thank you.
