I  think we could turn the mailing list as a rebservice. We'd need
a couple mail servers wanting to be the gate, for people that need
to reach the list via email. Reading can be done via a little View
app,  without  needing to be subscribed. For platforms that do not
have  View  we  could  either  write  a  Core  gateway to make the
rebservice accessible via POP3 or NNTP, or just have a NNTP server
somewhere working as a gateway.

Personally  I  still prefer email but unless we get something more
secure than SMTP then we have no choice anymore.
