Because all the other apps are compiled against the latest header
files and libraries. They all have a huge load of dependencies
(especially on Mandrake), while REBOL doesn't.

So, if the guys that compile Mandrake (for e.g.) decide to tweak
the font handling a bit for some reason, and this breaks REBOL, it
won't mean this breaks the other apps too because they are going
to be recompiled to account for that, and because 99% of them do
not use X directly but rely on other libraries (QT and GTK are the
most common example).

Regards,
   Gabriele.
