My experience with AltME is I tried it and it didn't work for me. Meaning I
created a world but others couldn't access it. Looking into this I read on the
AltME website to do this, that or the other and if that failed, to get a better
ISP. The suggestions did fail, but I didn't look into getting a better ISP,
the reason being the person testing my world (from the other side of the real
world) had exactly the same problem as me - he could create a world, but I
couldn't access it.

That's way, way too much hassle just to communicate with people via a computer.
It's bad enough to have to tell them they have to download special software to
do so, but then to be told to get a new ISP as well?

So, that's my experience of AltME. As a way for REBOL users to communicate I'm
sure it works fine. But as a way of getting the word out about REBOL, it just
doesn't work at all.

This mailing list's archive and Carl's Blog are about the only visable signs
that there's still life in REBOL. Do a Google News search for REBOL and you'll
only get six hits currently, two being about the news that started this thread
and the other four about people called Rebol. That's the sum total of REBOL
news for the last month according to Google. Wasn't View 1.3 released in the
last month? If so, Google obviously didn't think it was news worth reporting...

I have no idea how REBOL looks from within AltME, but from out in the real
world it's hardly visible at all. That won't change while the main
conversations about REBOL are within AltME. They need to be out on open
websites.
