Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. We're supplying the RSS feed to over 30 separate requesters each day, several of them are aggregators, so I've not idea how many people are getting the feed in total.
In the first few days we got flooded with RSS readers neurotically coming by at a high rate of knots.....For one day nearly 8% of our CGI activity was feeding the RSS maws. We added a <skipHours> to suggest twice a day is enough. It's a Library after all, not a 24x7 news channel. Pretty much all the readers have accepted that limitation......There is one pushy commercial aggregator that is still coming by every 30 minutes. We may have to ban them as an example for others.
