Alison Krauss, Pam Tillis Among MerleFest Performers

Alison Krauss and Pam Tillis are among the performers at the 20th annual 
MerleFest music festival currently underway in Wilkesboro, N.C. Last year, the
acoustic-oriented event drew 82,640 people to the Wilkes Community College 
campus. This year's lineup also includes Blue Highway, Sam Bush, Cherryholmes,
Elvis Costello, the Del McCoury Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Earl Scruggs and 
festival founder Doc Watson, among many others. The four-day festival, which
concludes Sunday (April 29), is a tribute to the memory of Watson's late son, 
Merle.

Joe Nichols and Jeff Foxworthy Set for Talladega

Joe Nichols will sing the national anthem Sunday (April 29) prior to the 
Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Ala. The Nextel Cup race
will be broadcast nationally on the Fox network at 1:30 p.m. ET. Jeff Foxworthy 
will serve as grand marshal of the race. Nichols releases his new single,
"Another Side of You," on May 7. It's the first track from his new album that's 
tentatively set for a late summer release. His most recent single, "I'll
Wait for You," reached Billboard's country Top 10. Foxworthy recently hosted 
the 2007 CMT Music Awards and is the host of Fox's Are You Smarter Than a
5th Grader.

Del McCoury's Label Signs Distribution Deal

McCoury Music, the independent label home of bluegrass singer and guitarist Del 
McCoury, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with RED Distribution,
the independent distribution arm of Sony/BMG. RED will distribute McCoury Music 
releases, the first of which is a new CD from bluegrass singer-guitarist
Larry Sparks, set for release Tuesday (May 1). Future releases include Merle 
Haggard's first bluegrass album, which was recorded in Nashville, and Moneyland,
a compilation album by bluegrass and country artists, including McCoury, 
Haggard and Emmylou Harris. The latter album is also being offered to donors to
presidential candidate John Edwards' campaign. McCoury formed McCoury Music in 
2003.

Five Kenny Rogers Albums Released Digitally

Five albums recorded by Kenny Rogers were released online this week by Capitol 
Nashville, including his solo debut, Love Lifted Me (1976), which featured
the No. 1 hit, "Lucille." Additional titles include Daytime Friends (1977), The 
Gambler (1979), Love Will Turn You Around (1982) and Love Is What We Make
It (1985). Prior to his solo career, Rogers enjoyed pop success with the band, 
the First Edition. Rogers released his newest album, Water and Bridges,
on Capitol Nashville label in 2006.
