Spice Cake Cake:
1/2 c. butter 1-1/2 c. brown sugar 3 eggs 1 c. sour cream or milk 1-1/2 c. flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp allspice 1/2 tsp ground cloves 1 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. light raisins (white or golden) Preheat oven to dg400. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and sour cream. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and spices. Add to sour cream mixture. Mix well. Fold in nuts and raisins. Bake in 2 8-inch greased cake pans 25 minutes. Cool Ice with Seafoam icing. Seafoam Icing 1 c. sugar 2 c. light brown sugar 1/2 c. water 2 egg whites Boil sugars and water until hard-ball stage. Beat egg whites until stiff. Slowly pour syrup into egg whites, beating constantly. Beat until icing holds its shape. Spread quickly and generously on cake.
