Tomato Macaroni Break macaroni in pieces three inches long and boil until tender. Butter a baking dish, and place a layer of sliced tomatoes on the bottom (or canned tomatoes); add a layer of the macaroni, and season with salt, pepper, and butter; add another layer of tomato, and alternate layers. Place a layer of cracker crumbs on top, with butter. Bake about thirty minutes, or until browned on top.
