The Kennett government is looking to bring in new legislation that would add to the damage done by Howard's ten point plan. The only group backing new legislation is the Chamber of Mines. Aboriginal groups are being given a laughable two months to respond. The position of the Victorian Indigenous Working Group is that there should be no further legislation. That is why Trade Unionists for Land Rights is calling a picket of Kennett on Thursday, May 27--Reconciliation Day. Meet at 8am outside the 3AW offices at 43 Bank St, South Melbourne, where Kennett will be speaking to Neil Mitchell. The protest will run for one hour. No more racist laws! Land rights now! For more information, ring Ellen Kleimaker at Trades Hall on 9662 3511 or David Glanz on 0418 316 310.
