Dear all, Two items that may be of interest at this festivally/fringy time in Adelaide! Both with a Ngarrindjeri provenance. Sorry for any crossposting. Dean ____________________________________________________ CATSKIN reading National Playwrights Conference A reading of the play CATSKIN written by Robert Crompton and Kerry Yates On Tuesday March 7 at 6.30 pm in the Art Gallery Auditorium Cost: $10 conc and $15 This is a reading, not the full-blown performance, an excellent exploration which glides between a present day story of a young Aboriginal man in prison, and the story of the encounter and conflict as Aboriginal culture and traditions meet mission Christianity in his people's past. CATSKIN draws upon specific South Australian history and powerfully highlights the spiritual struggle of the players on different sides of that history. ________________________________________ Visual arts TRADITIONS - MISSIONS - FRICTIONS Muriel Van Der Byl and Sandra Saunders A thought provoking exhibition spanning the traditional, confronting, political and amusing that tells the history sice the invasion of Australia. The artwork explores the relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in Australia today. We welcome you to visit our lunchtime concerts and to come and write messages on our rainbow serpent. March 1-19 [11am - 5pm] free.
