Land returned to traditional
owners

The mid-north coast's Aboriginal community is
being handed back 100 hectares of land.

The property, known as Toms Gully, about 40
kilometres west of Kempsey, was bought by the
Indigenous Land Corporation - a statutory body
set up to help Aboriginal people acquire land.

Betty Cohen from the local Aboriginal
community says today is an important day.

"Well, I think it's very important for us because
we've been deprived of our land, we had it
taken from us by Europeans and to get back
our own land is very important for us."
