Aborigines vow 'burn, baby, burn' Olympic protests

AAP -- It was burn, baby, burn from now on for open slather Aboriginal
demonstration against the
Olympics, Aboriginal activist Charles Perkins said today.

Mr Perkins accused the federal government of being racist and Prime
Minister John Howard of being a
reincarnated Pauline Hanson in the wake of government doubts placed on
the the size of the stolen
generation of Aboriginal children.

"As far as the Olympics are concerned, you can just about forget that,"
Mr Perkins told Channel Ten.

"It's burn, baby, burn from now on. Anything can happen."

When asked what that meant, he said: "I'm talking about demonstrations."

Mr Perkins said likening the stolen generations to the Jewish Holocaust
was legitimate because the
principle was the same, whatever the difference in the number of people
killed.

"This country is a racist country and it will pay in the oncoming
generations for what they are doing at
the present time.

"This man here (Senator Herron), and this Prime Minister (John Howard),
are the worst we've ever had.
Not so much Herron, he's just a messenger boy for Howard."

Aboriginal people were not so much interested in compensation as wanting
compasion.

"Howard's got no feeling for anybody at all. He's just a machine, he's
just a small-minded man from the
North Shore.

"He's really Pauline Hanson reincarnated. Pauline's gone but he's
there."
