BOTH were defended against accusations of bigotry and racism by none other
than John Howard (The Courier-Mail; 9.7.93, page 2).

Beyond contempt is too generous for this Dodo. Not only did Australians
discover the airfoil, their design returned. Further, remember that Greek
guy Archie somebugger, he overflowed the bath as I recall, well long before
he made Mum mop the floor, the Indigenous Australian put a lever to a
spear!
Ruddock is the worst kind of racist, a follower and an ethnocentric
pliagiarist.
Necessity precipitates invention, and what has the wheel got to do with
intellect?
These racist bastards get an old soldier very angry.
And I've not yet begun to discuss productive contacts with Australians,
before the european invasion, by northern neighbours over perhaps thousands
of years.
Amnesty, eject this racist unlearned and ignorant fool...
