 British surgeons return
 Aboriginal remains to Tasmania

An important collection of Aboriginal remains is to be returned to Tasmania
from England.

The collection includes hair and skin of Truganini, as well as three skulls and
seven jaws.

The Royal College of Surgeons has agreed to return the remains unconditionally.

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre's Trudy Maluga, says it is important for the
Aboriginal community to
 take responsibility for the remains.

"A lot of these remains of Aboriginal people in any collection throughout the
United Kingdom that was
taken, were taken without Aboriginal consent," Ms Maluga said.

"They were gathered by grave robbing or by outright slaughter of our people in
this illicit trade."
