Have you tried adding &script=1 to the end of your URL when called from SmartEdit (i.e. <!IoRangeRedDotMode>&Script=1<!/ IoRangeRedDotMode>)? That tells RedDot CMS to leave the script alone... or at least more alone than it normally would.
