OK, So I answered my own question. I was stepping through the code in debug mode. for some reason, stepping into the call to the RedDot web services causes a 20 second delay when on 9.0 and not on 7.5. If you set a breakpoint after the call, and just let it run, you get instant results. I'd be keen to know why the difference, but for now things are working. Wayne.
