A "weblog-like-reddot" is close, yes. More like a news/magazine style site. I'd like our article contributors to be able to focus on a category-centric publishing structure rather than having to worry about what goes where on the site. Having categories and keywords driving the content to its destinations would eliminate the contributor thinking about what goes were in a news site, at least that's my theory.
