Dont think getting into an argument as to whether its suitable or not
suitable on VM is the valid way to go about this.

I'd love to run a test with a spec'd machine in VM and a CMS project
recording page load times when in SmartEdit(with x users) and then
repeat with the same spec machine not in VM and see if there is a
difference. (with the DB sitting in VMware and then in a normal server
as well would be ideal)

Anyone out there that could do this sort of test? We have all our
environment hosted so it would cost $$$$ to try this out but surely
someone out there has access to both VM and normal servers

Would love to see RedDot give out some performance stats on editors/
pages/project and machine spec as right now its an art more than a
science.

Regards,
BjP
