Did you try 3.0.5-9.6x or some other versions?  

Certain previous ones have major problems.  For ones I got, look
at %make or %configure lines when building.. sysconfdir defaulted to
/usr/etc, among other things;  this can't help the building.

However -9.6x works fine here (haven't really rebuilt much yet though).
