The author certainly did make a driver called "tulip." As most other drivers 
have more mundane, I assume there was a reason - perhaps "Tulip" was a 
development name for the chipset, like "Chicago" for Windows.

It's certainly easier to remember than the production names for the chipsets 
it supports;-)
