It's possible to assign two addresses to your one NIC.
It will not provide any firewall protection to your internal network,
however; the router could be reconfigured to provide access to your internal
machines.
If you don't care whether this happens or not, and weren't planning on
setting up a firewall, then by all means assign two addresses to your NIC.
