I've been following the FTP Only Access thread but when I attempt to set
up an account this way, I get a 'login incorrect' message when I attempt
to ftp to the server.
I've tried to follow the instructions in man ftpaccess and have set up a
user called romftp and a group called romftp. I've put this group into the
ftpaccess file as 'guestgroup romftp'.
My passwd entry for this user is:
romftp:x:502:502::/home/ftp/./pub/tmp:
When I just leave this as a normal user, I can ftp okay but the user can
cd to anywhere on the server -- something I'd like to restrict.
The idea is to localize this account to the tmp directory where it has
write privileges. A place for my non-Unix account users to put temporary,
non-confidential files for others to pick up. (We're trying to wean them
away from sending 10Mb attachments via email).
If anyone can spot what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate any corrections.
