Mgetty and receiving faxes/dialup

I have a GVC modem internal on com 2, /dev/cua1 , which I have softlinked
to /dev/fax and /dev/modem. Minicom works great but I cant seem to make
mgetty receive faxes or dial up. 

Any ideas?
