Huh? I use a Diamond FirePort 40 and have no problems.
I'd say you probably didn't do a "mkinitrd".
As for 2.0.34 with the NCR53c8xx support in the kernel, not as module, for
some reason I couldn't get that to work :-(. 2.0.33 does work. Since my
home machine is not on the network (and thus not succeptible to the latest
IP fragment problem) that satisfied me. You may want to try a "virgin"
2.0.34 (as vs. Red Hat's 'hacked' version) to see if that helps, but
otherwise I've had no problems with the FirePort 40 and 2.0.34. Thus
my suggestion about checking out "mkinitrd" and making sure your
/etc/lilo.conf is set up correctly.
