Joe-
check the smb script and see if it starts with the full path name. If you
are doing a "ps aux | grep [ns]mbd" grep will choke on the full path name
and not report it.... I use "ps ax | grep samba" that way I get both nmbd
and smbd status and grep doesn't choke....
If that is not your answer I would recommend ditching the redhat RPM and
build Samba yourself there are not many differences but it does give you a
better level of control (not to mention putting files in the correct places)
and it is very easy.
