I just did an (almost) successful clean install of 5.1. All 300-some packages installed *except* for initscripts. So I got the latest rpm from the errata page, and it also fails with the same errors: root /mnt/zip/errata>> rpm -Uvh --force initscripts-3.65-2.i386.rpm initscripts ################################################## error reading information on service random: No such file or directory error reading information on service nfsfs: No such file or directory error reading information on service network: No such file or directory execution of script failed error: initscripts-3.65-2.i386.rpm cannot be installed I also upgraded glint from the errata, thinking this might have some bearing. No effect. What am I missing? This is a pretty important package- how can I fix this? Can I simply copy the entire /etc/rc.d directory tree from a backup of 5.0? Or is there more to it? The system is functional, but a lot of important services are missing. Plus, I can't shutdown/reboot cleanly. Please advise! Thanks in advance for any clues... --=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-- Joe Nestlerode, DuPont R&D `Powered by Linux' Wilmington, Delaware ( A user since 1.2.8 ) --=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-- -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
