It's probably a problem with your filter options in the 'printtool'. Make
sure you enable the "Fix Stair-Stepping Text".

Actually, I always disable "Fast Text Printing", which solves the problem
entirely (it converts text into Postscript & then prints in graphics
mode). The best thing is that the current Postscript fonts look
considerably better than the built-in default font in most laser printers.
