Check your ethernet card and network configuration.  Are you sure your broadcast
and netmask are correct? 

If so, I suspect the ethernet driver for your card, despite having upgraded
kernel versions.

Are you noticing network performance suffering as a result?  You could go thru
the steps to make sure your ethernet driver is updated...
