I am working up an idea to use Linux as a telephone recording device
(similar to those modified tape recorders at Radio Shack, etc.)

Ideally the Linux box can sit in a closet, and create a new file for each
conversation. The trigger will be either serial or parallel (not sure
yet), recorded on a basic Sound Blaster. Some type of logging is also
required, including user comments.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I appeal to the RH crowd for pointers to
previous work. When my setup is complete, I will post full details
including diagrams and source on my web site.

Thanks for any leads.
