Good Day ALL! I posted a question/problem a few days ago, and thanks KD for the help. But want to probe this area a bit further, once i clarify my situation. I currently have a USR 56.6 external which i use with the linux box to dial out and connect to my ISP for the LAN (yeah, i know.....way slow!). I use a script called pppsetup that, once you tell it the number, isp name, dns, and login sequence, writes a nice little bash script called ppp-go. Recently, i purchased an external (serial) 3Com ImpactIQ ISDN modem and want to replace the 56.6 with that. Now, my query/problem.... i tried the old pppsetup and the ppp-go script dials out ok, but the connect fails. I was advised by KD to do the following: "I just set up my pppd options files and the chatscripts. e.g.:" ========/etc/ppp/options============= /dev/ttyS1 115200 modem crtscts lock connect "/usr/sbin/chat ABORT \"NO CARRIER\" ABORT BUSY \"\" ATZ OKATDT1234567 CONNECT " asyncmap 0 name xxxxxxx (changed for posting) remotename xxxxxxxx (changed for posting) netmask 255.255.255.0 noipdefault disconnect "chat ABORT \"NO CARRIER\" \"\" ATZ OK" ==================================== ...now i am not a total newbie, but i have never gone thru a "proper" pppd setup this way including login scripts and the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/if-up and if-down scripts, and the like. Could anyone clue me in as to what i need to do, where i need to do it, and possible some additional examples (as in any scripts)? I would appreciate the help. All i want to do is use the isdn modem to dial out, connect me, and if the ppp connection is made run the "mlupd" script from monolith.
