Not sure how you need to fix it, but the message indicates your system
is indeed attempting to send SMTP via port 25. When the server responds
with a message 220, it expects your machine to identify itself with the
command "HELO my.domain" (no quotes, your domain). Your machine is
sending the HELO, but without the domain following it. The mail server
then returns the 501 error message.
