P.S: I forgot to ask.
Has any one ran across this problem and know what I could/should
check/install to fix the problem

Subject: apache error

I have redHat 7.3 installed
and I am trying to install apache 1.3.26
I get this error message when I run
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --activate-module=src/modules/php4/li
bphp4.a

I have gcc 2.96-110 installed

** A test compilation with your Makefile configuration
** failed. The below error output from the compilation
** test will give you an idea what is failing. Note that
** Apache requires an ANSI C Compiler, such as gcc.
