Thanks for looking into this:
[M8ram@localhost M8ram]$ cat /etc/sysconfig/clock 
ZONE="Europe/Brussels"
UTC=false
ARC=false

I don't know what ARC means but UTC=false matches the fact that I have
not selected "system uses UTC clock" in the 'dateconfig' dialog box.
