I have a dual boot - XP and RH. My XP's filesystem is FAT32, so I can
read/write to those partitions after they're mounted.

There are utilities for Windows that allow you to read/write to EXT3
file systems, but that's a bit of a kludge - so it might work and might
not work.

Having a partition that is setup as FAT32/VFAT that you can swap data to
is the better of the ideas as it won't muck up your OS or root file
system.
